The Global Table

A book of tantalising pertinence and potency. It deals eloquently with the dynamic intricacies of nature in her cycles of ceaseless creativity. Breaking stereotypes, altering mindsets, broadening narrowed paradigms can be a beautiful art. To effect deep change at any level of society in a non-violent way requires directness, practicality, erudition and courage. All these attributes meet in a soon to be published teaching text designed to transform the approach to economics in the midst of contemporary dilemmas that are almost overwhelming in scale. It is entitled The Modern Universal Paradigm* and it is written as an act of faith in humanity when we are able to take account and make application of the best in mature religious faith and in diffident serious science.

MOST of us assume the solution to problems with the economy lies in coming up with something new. But a group of Christian thinkers in Cambridge believe the answer lies in getting back to the economic model laid out in the Bible.

Don't laugh. This is Easter Monday. And it's a group with more PhDs than you've had haircuts. But you're allowed to be amazed. The things these guys want to do would shock a lot of Christian economists and business people.

They're from a Christian research group, the Jubilee Centre, founded by Michael Schluter. Dr Schluter is better known as the director of the Relationships Foundation.
